You'll Never Guess This Best Robot Vacuum That Mops's Tricks
The Best Robot Vacuum That Mops
Noah Pinsonnault is a product review analyst for the Home Care and Cleaning Lab at Good Housekeeping.
He conducts tests and reviews of cleaning equipment. His focus is on mopping and robot vacuum combinations. These multitaskers can be a great option for those who are looking to remove mopping from their list of tasks. Some have great mapping capabilities and obstacles avoidance. Some wash and refill mopping pads themselves for a hands-free cleaning.
The Eufy S1 Pro
This is the model you need to choose if you want a robot vacuum cleaner that also mop. It's smaller than the other models on this list, making it easier to maneuver into tight corners and underneath furniture. It has a 220-degree lidar, which when combined with its 3D Matrix camera system gives it the best navigation and obstacle avoidance I've ever seen in a robot vacuum. It packs a powerful 4600mAh battery that lasts for up to 170-minutes, if mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it can last longer in turbo). It can even return to its dock to recharge its battery mid-clean.
It's fast and does an excellent job cleaning my two-bedroom apartment. It vacuums carpeted rooms extremely quickly and the hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room, and hallways in a single pass. Its 8,000pa motor is able to clean dirt, pet hair, and even droppings effortlessly. Carpet detection increases power automatically when it encounters rugs and the two side brushes help draw out debris from corners.
The mopping performance is a little less impressive, though not by much. The rotating mop spins fast and makes use of 2.2lbs to remove dirt and stain. I've noticed that the front arms stick out a bit more than other robots, which is useful for getting into tight corners and along baseboards. The same front arms can also be used to scoop up larger pieces of debris, like books and broken toys.
Another nice feature is that the S1 Pro is one of the most quiet robot vacuums and mops I've ever used. It doesn't make as loud of a sound when mopping or vacuuming, and is much quieter than the Narwal Freo X Ultra or RoboRock S7. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it needs to utilize a specific mopping solution and is sold separately. It's easy to install and is effective however, this is something you'll need to be aware of when you purchase this vacuum for the sole purpose of mopping.
The Roborock Q Revo
The Q Revo stands apart from the majority of robot vacuums which mops in its class. It comes with a wide array of features that make it an ideal choice for homeowners who want an extremely efficient, flexible and ad-hoc cleaning machine.
The device comes with an impressive and powerful cleaning system that integrates LiDAR sensors and an RGB camera to map the house and detect furniture and other obstacles. It then uses this information to clean efficiently and effectively. This results in a thorough, consistent clean that is also quite quick.
In terms of mopping, Q Revo's DuoRoller mop pads can reach a wide range of surfaces. This includes corners, baseboards and other difficult to reach places. They also have a stretchy side brush that extends to reach the floor near walls and other fixtures. The mop pads are also washable and can be dried to reduce odors and prevent buildup.
Another feature worth mentioning is the app-based customization options. The Q Revo lets you adjust the suction intensity and choose either a back-and-forth or a random pattern. You can also adjust the number of passes it should make, which will affect how fast the device will traverse your home. You can even choose to turn off the side brush to prevent damaging carpets and rugs.
The device is costly, but it comes with a lot of smart features. However, it's important to note that it incurs regular expenses in the form of mopping supplies and maintenance. For instance, a brushroll needs to be replaced every six to 12 months or after 300 hours. The filter is recommended to be cleaned after 150 hrs, and the mop pads must be changed every three months.
This robot vacuum that mops has a high rating on Amazon and comes with a wide range of physical automation features. This includes a power button that serves as a general "Clean button, as well as a 'Home' button that will send it back to its base station after finishing the cleaning process. It also comes with a multi-functional dock which automatically empty the dustbin, refills its water tank and washes and dry its mop pads.
The Shark Matrix Plus
If you're a professional with a lot of work or someone who just wants a cleaner home without spending much time doing chores, the Shark Matrix Plus is a solid option. It has powerful performance, smart navigation, and a long battery life that makes it easy to keep your home tidy with little effort.
The Matrix Plus is a 2-in-1 robot vacuum and mop, which means it can handle mopping and vacuuming. The robot comes with two modules: a dry bin and water reservoir and a separate mopping module with a microfiber pad that snaps into and out of the way. Separate modules for mopping and vacuuming may appear a bit dated but they're a good thing because you don't have to think about changing disposable bags or refueling the water tank.
Our test participants discovered that the Matrix Plus did a great job at both vacuuming and mopping. Its greatest feature is its accurate floorplan map, which it uses when cleaning. This made it easy for the Matrix Plus to navigate around furniture, rugs and other obstacles. The app lets you create 'No-Go Zones' or virtual barriers to prevent certain areas from being cleaned by a mop.
The Matrix Plus also did a surprising job of picking up hair of pets. It was able capture an enormous amount of hair our cats shed and even got into the nooks and crevices of our stairs while other robots struggled. The noise levels of the robot were low and there were pleasant jingles to signal that it was in the process of working towards its goal.
Its biggest drawbacks were its simple app and the necessity to swap between the modules to switch between vacuuming and mopping. The app can't contain multiple maps, which could be a problem for homes with multiple floors. The Matrix Plus is a good choice for people who want an intelligent robot that can do both mopping and vacuuming.
The Yiko X1 Omni
The X1 Omni is the most expensive robot vacuum that mops in our test, but it comes with some unique features that make it worth a look. The X1 Omni is most well-known for its huge dock that serves as a charging base for the robot, a cleaning sink and two water tanks of 4 liters. It also houses the 2.5-liter dust bin and an 2.5 liter dust bin.
The base has several control buttons that let you manually begin a cleaning task and then recall the robot or run the dock’s auto-emptying procedure. Press two buttons to turn off the child lock. This is a great feature for parents who are concerned about their children messing around with the vacuum.
The Omni Omni, like other robotic vacuums uses its camera to identify furniture and obstacles in its path. It will steer clear of them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system will map your home 10 times faster than conventional laser detection systems and is four times more precise in recognizing objects.
This can cause the X1 to become stuck when it gets caught in a blockage like a power cable tangled over a rug. It won't work until you untangle it manually. While it was not common however, it was a gruelling experience when it did happen and especially because the X1 Omni doesn't come with a "stuck" status alert in its application.
Another issue that could be a problem is one of the biggest drawbacks is X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between vacuuming and mopping modes during cleaning. You will have to manually switch between the two modes, which isn't too bad but the mopping pad isn't washed or dried between uses. This can cause mildew and mold.
The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame), who created its sleek modern base and mopping pad. It's a major departure from the utilitarian, all-black bases used by competitors like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing sight in a space that is dominated by bulky, boxy units.
